Wash and condition your hair every once or twice a week. Try to use mild and gentle shampoo and conditioner designed for chemically-treated hair. If you have sensitive skin, consider using shampoos that do not contain Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate .Trim your hair every six to eight weeks to remove split ends and make your hair more manageable. A good haircut is the best foundation for the rest of the steps. It allows you to spend less time fussing with your hair and applying heat and more chemicals in an effort to coax it into doing what it doesn't want to do.

Having chemically and color treated hair requires more maintenance in order for it to look healthy and shiny. Your diet has a lot to do with how your hair looks, and doctors say that a diet that is rich in essential fatty acids such as pumpkin seeds will help your hair to grow.  Apply a deep conditioner once a week or a protein treatment essentially for lighter colors once a month..

Hair should be  partially dry  before using a blow dryer on a low to medium temperature setting. However, if your hair is healthy and you prefer heat, you can either blow dry the hair on a higher setting or use a hood dryer with magnetic rollers. The hair should be completely dry before you use a curling or flat iron on it. Make sure to use a heat protection product prior to any heat use. (Paul Mitchell skinny serum or Chi Silk Infusion) are great heat protectors.

Drink plenty of water daily, get enough of rest, eat well, alleviate stress, and exercise regularly (at least 2-3 days per week) to produce the healthiest hair possible. Take a multi-vitamin, Biotin, Omega-3 Oil, and other supplements as needed.
